ProCOM

Moxa’s ProCOM technology allows applications to communicate through Ethernet networks using their existing

Modbus or DF1 protocols, without installing new drivers or software. In addition, ProCOM includes routing

functionality, so Moxa’s EIP3000 and MB3000 series gateways can inspect Modbus or DF1 packets and route

them to the correct destination—whether that is the connected serial device or another Ethernet device. With this

combination of high compatibility and intelligent trafﬁc management, Moxa’s EIP3000 and MB3000 series gateways

can seamlessly plug into existing host software to communicate with DF1, EtherNet/IP, Modbus RTU/ASCII or

Modbus/TCP devices.

Priority Control

Traditional Modbus gateways simply transfer all requests on a ﬁrst-in ﬁrst-out (FIFO) basis, which can quickly

become problematic when there is a lot of activity and high-priority commands are delayed because of other

trafﬁc. The advanced MGate MB3000 series include Moxa’s exclusive Priority Control feature, which ﬂags certain

commands as urgent based on IP address, command type, or TCP. The user can rely on just one network with

conﬁdence, instead of creating an entire second control system to transmit urgent messages. Priority Control also

reduces latency, which enables more real-time control systems.
